HitFix, which is battling some much bigger players in the online entertainment news space, has raised $1.6 million in a round of funding from angel investment network Tech Coast Angels. The site, which was founded in December 2008, is trying to differentiate itself from rivals by offering “insider entertainment news”—“without the pesky gossip.” It puts a big emphasis on original reporting and analysis. Current headlines include an interview with members of the band Interpol and a slideshow previewing the Emmys.
